Rourkela: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Rourkela has been appointed to oversee the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) for the academic year 2025-26, which will manage admissions for undergraduate programs at IITs, NITs, and other institutions, as announced by officials on Wednesday.
The CSAB 2025 initiative aims to provide a clear, efficient, and inclusive seat allocation process for candidates who have qualified through JEE (Main) nationwide. Additionally, the Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) 2025 program emphasizes the institute's dedication to attracting international students to India's premier technical colleges,” stated Umamaheshwar Rao, Director of NIT Rourkela and Chairperson of CSAB. “With robust digital infrastructure, multilingual support, and focused accessibility measures, we are committed to delivering a smooth admission experience for all students, both domestic and international,” he added.
NIT Rourkela has also announced that the CSAB-NEUT rounds for candidates from Northeast states and specific Union territories will commence in June 2025, in line with AICTE’s reservation policy for regions lacking adequate facilities. While NIT Rourkela will manage the NIT System, IIT Kanpur will oversee the IIT System, and both institutions will jointly host the 2025 edition of the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). JoSAA 2025 activities are set to begin in the first week of June 2025.
Officials indicated that there will be six rounds of seat allocation in the upcoming JoSAA edition. “As in previous years, CSAB will also conduct CSAB-Special rounds to fill any vacant seats from all JoSAA 2025 rounds. This year, there will be three rounds of CSAB-Special,” they noted.
CSAB will also coordinate a Supernumerary Round for students from Union territories such as Andaman & Nicobar, Lakshadweep, Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli in selected NITs,” a senior official mentioned. It is projected that over 14.5 lakh candidates who qualified in JEE (Main) will vie for around 40,000 seats across all participating institutions, with 20 percent of those seats reserved for female candidates.
The entire seat allocation process, encompassing registration, choice filling, seat allotment, and document verification, will be conducted online,” the official concluded.
